Change the model directly
Add kinds of record, fields and links yourself, change what a field holds, and ask for the result as one change.
The model is Divvent's description of your business: its records, fields and links. Usually you change it by asking in your own words on Changes. The Change the model tab lets you make the simple changes yourself instead, by filling in short forms. You find it under What it is, on the Change the model tab.
Owners, admins and editors can make changes here. Anyone else who can open the application can look.
What you see
Under What the business holds is a card for each kind of record, such as jobs, customers or invoices. Each card says whether it holds anything personal, and lists its fields: each field's name, what it holds (text, a date, money, a photo and so on), whether it must be filled in, and, for a link, which kind of record it links to and whether to one or many.
Below the cards, Lists of values shows the fixed lists some fields choose from, such as a job's status.
Add a kind of record
At the top, type a name under A new kind of record and press Add it. The name starts with a capital letter and has no spaces, for example Booking. The new kind of record starts with one field, its name, and you add the rest as below.
Add a field or a link
Open Add to on a card.
- A field: type a name under A field called, choose what it is holding, and press Add the field. It can hold text, a longer piece of formatted text, a whole number, a decimal, money, yes or no, a date, a date and time, an email address, a phone number, an address, a place on a map, a photo, an image, a document, a video or a signature. Where your model has lists of values, it can also hold one of a list, chosen from the list.
- A link: type a name under A link called, choose which kind of record it links to, tick many of them if one record can link to several, and press Add the link.
A field's name starts with a small letter and has no spaces, such as notes or colour. A new field doesn't have to be filled in, so records you already have stay as they are.
Change a field
Open Change next to a field.
- Rename gives it a new name. Everything that uses it follows the new name.
- Change what it holds switches it to another kind, such as from text to a date. Divvent checks whether your existing records can be carried across, and says so if they can't.
- Remove it takes the field away. The records' values in it go with it. The change's page says so, and whether it can be undone. A kind of record always keeps at least one field.
Other changes
- What it holds, under Add to on a card, says whether a kind of record holds personal details, and of what sort. Press Say so to mark it. You can mark it as holding more sensitive details here; only our team can mark it as holding less.
- Another value, beside a list of values, adds a value to it. Press Add it.
Ask for your change
Each form you send goes into your draft, and the screen shows What the change does below it. When you are ready, press Ask for this change. It opens the change's own page, where you read it and approve it. See Read a change and approve it.
Start again throws the draft away. The same draft is shared with the Pages, Flows and Permissions tabs, so one change can include edits from each, and you ask for it once.
If something can't be done here, the screen says why, often with "ask for it in chat". That means asking on Changes, in your own words. For example, you can't remove a whole kind of record, rename one, or add a field that needs more said about it than a name here: see Ask for a change.
Approving makes a new version, which is live once you release it: see Release a version.
