Working for clients as an agency

Let an agency work on your company, or work as an agency yourself and build applications for your clients.

An agency can build and run applications for its clients on Divvent, while each client's company stays the client's own. This article has two halves: one for a company that works with an agency, and one for the agency.

Both start from the Agencies page. Open People, and follow the Agencies link near the top.

If an agency works on your company

An agency's people work in your company as members of it. They use the same screens, follow the same rules and sign in the same way as your own people, with three differences:

The agency sees on Divvent what the role it holds can see, and nothing more.

Let an agency in

Only an owner can do this.

  1. Ask the agency for its name in Divvent.
  2. On Agencies, under Work with an agency, type it in The agency's name in Divvent.
  3. Choose The most its people may be. Editor is a good start: they can ask for changes and approve the smaller ones, and release to a test copy, but not to your live application.
  4. Press Offer it to them.

The agency shows as Offered, waiting on them until it takes the offer up. Divvent doesn't email the agency about it yet, so tell them you have sent it. Once they take it up and let their people in, each person is listed under the agency's name.

If an agency set your company up for you, you were invited as its owner, and the agency is already working on it up to what it chose. You can change that, or end it, from the moment you join.

Change what an agency may do

On Agencies, choose a new role in The most … people may be for that agency, and press Change.

Making it smaller takes effect straight away for every one of the agency's people. Making it larger changes nobody until the agency lets its people do more.

Take an agency away

An owner can always do this, even if the company is read-only and even if the agency pays for it.

  1. On Agencies, tick Yes, take … away from this company.
  2. Press Take them away.

At once, none of the agency's people can reach your company, and any invitation they sent that nobody has accepted stops working. If the agency paid for your company, you pay for it yourselves from now on, and you have a week to choose a plan on Plan and billing.

Who pays

Either you pay Divvent yourselves, or the agency pays for your company on its own invoice.

If the agency offers to pay, Agencies says so and names the plan. An owner or a finance approver presses Let them pay. You can go back to paying yourselves at any time with Pay for this company ourselves.

While the agency pays, your company works as long as the agency's own account is paid. If the agency stops paying Divvent, your company becomes read-only and says why. Its owner can still pay directly, or take the agency away. See Plans and billing.

If you are the agency

Work as an agency

The owner of your company presses Work as an agency, at the bottom of the Agencies page. From then on, the Clients page, linked from Agencies, is your list of clients.

Take on a client

There are two ways.

When you set a company up, the client is invited as its only owner, so it is theirs from the start. An agency can have three companies on a free trial open at once. The client's owner can always narrow what you may do, or end the relationship.

Let your people into a client

An owner or admin of your agency does this. On Clients, under the client's name, choose one of your people in Let in, choose a role in as, and press Let them in. The roles offered are the ones within what the client allowed and that you may give: your admins can let people in as editors and viewers, and only your owner can let someone in as an admin or a finance approver.

Take out beside a person reverses it. Anybody who leaves your agency leaves all your clients with it.

Work in a client's company

Press Open beside the client on Clients, or choose the client in Switch to at the top of any page. The top of the page then says Working in the client's name, as one of your agency's people. Every screen is the client's, with the role you hold there. To go back, choose your own company in Switch to.

Your clients at a glance

For each client you have been let into, Clients shows:

A client you have not been let into shows its name and nothing else.

Pay for your clients

An owner or finance approver of your agency does this, and your agency has to pay Divvent itself first. Then, for a client, choose a plan in Offer to pay, on and press Offer to pay. Once the client says yes, the client becomes a line on your own invoice: one invoice for every client you pay for, each line starting from the day it starts.

Stop paying for … ends it. The client then has a week to choose a plan of its own. A client you pay for can't change its own plan: you change it for them, or they pay for themselves.

Stop working for a client

Only your agency's owner can do this. On Clients, tick Yes, stop working for … and press Stop working for them.
