Divvent

Create your first application

Say what your business does, give the application a name, check the language, currency and time zone, and Divvent writes a first version for you to approve.

An application starts with a description of your business, in your own words. Divvent reads it, suggests a template if one fits, or writes a first version for you. Nothing is built until you approve it.

You reach this page straight after setting up your second factor, from Create your application on Needs you, or from New application under your applications. Owners, admins and editors can create an application.

Fill in the form

The page is called Create your application. Only the first two boxes need you; everything else already has a sensible answer, which you can change if it's wrong.

What does the business do?

This matters most. Write who your customers are, what you keep track of, and what happens day to day. For example:

You can write up to 4,000 characters. If your business works like one of our templates (bookings and appointments, field service, fleet or shop), you're offered that template as a start.

What is it called?

Any name, spaces and all. "Bright Paws bookings" or "Jo's Bakes orders" is fine.

Web address name

The name used in your application's web addresses. Leave it blank and it's made from the name above. It uses lower-case letters, numbers and hyphens, and it can't be changed later.

On the free trial, this box already holds your company's short name and can't be edited. What you call the application can still be anything.

Language, Currency and Time zone

You can change any of these later, but each change goes through Changes like any other. See Your application's settings.

What does it keep about people?

Choose the answer that fits best, from "Nothing sensitive beyond ordinary business records" to "Information about children" or "Something a regulator oversees closely". It decides how closely your application is audited and what may be copied into a test copy. Only a person sets it (the assistant never does), and it can be raised later.

Press Create it

Press Create it. Your application is made and your description is sent as its first change. You land on that change's page, where Divvent either suggests a template that fits or asks a question and then proposes a first version. Read it, and approve it when it's right. See Describe your business, and check Divvent understood it and Read a change and approve it.

Approving makes your first version. It doesn't put it live: that's a separate step on Releases. See Release a version.

If your description couldn't be sent

Sometimes the application is made but the description can't be sent straight away, for example because the AI budget has run out. The page says is created, tells you why the description wasn't sent, and keeps your words in a box. Press Send it when you're ready, or change the words first.

Start from a template instead

You can also start from a template in the Marketplace, reached from the button beside New application on Needs you. On a template's page, choose Start an application from followed by the template's name. (If you already have an application with no first version, the page offers Install into it instead.) The form then says which template the application starts from, and the button reads Create it from followed by the template's name. You don't write a description in this case.

The template's installation is your first change: you read what it adds and approve it like any other. See Templates and the marketplace.

If the template couldn't be installed, the page says why and offers Try installing it again, or a link to describe the business instead.

If your plan is full

Each plan holds a set number of applications, and the free trial holds one. If you already have as many as your plan allows, the page says so before the form, so you don't fill it in for nothing.

If one of your applications has no first version yet, the page offers it instead: Describe the business in that application, or, if you came from a template, Install into it. See plans takes you to Plans and billing.
